HOW TO KNOW THE SIZE OF YOUR FINGER FOR A RING?

You can't always go to a jewelry store to choose and try on a ring. If you buy your jewelry online or want to give a ring as a gift, you will need to choose the right ring size . But how to find it? Find below methods to measure the circumference of a finger or the diameter of a ring. Thanks to this you will know which ring size to choose. We also give you some tips to avoid any mistakes.

TAKE THE MEASUREMENTS OF YOUR RING CAREFULLY

To know your ring size, you have to measure the circumference of your finger or the diameter of a ring that you usually wear.

Here are some ways to properly measure your new piece of jewelry.

The most reliable method: use a ring sizer

This is the most reliable method. A ring sizer allows you to put rings of different sizes on your finger in order to find the most suitable size. You can find it on the Amazon site.

Use a printable ring sizer

You can download and print a ring sizer . Take care to respect the scale in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises. On this paper document, you can place one of your rings and compare its diameter with the ring gauge templates. It is recommended to base it on the inside diameter of the ring. If you hesitate between two measurements, choose the larger one.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT RING SIZE?

Measure the circumference of your finger with a tape

The simplest method is to use a tape measure, it is also the least precise. Using it, measure the circumference of your finger where it is thickest. If your finger circumference is 4.91 cm, you will turn to a ring size 49; just multiply by 10 your finger circumference expressed in cm.

If you don't have a tape measure, use a string, a graduated strip... Go around your finger, mark the limits and transfer the measurement to a graduated ruler to find out the circumference.

Measure the diameter of an existing ring

You can also measure the diameter of one of your rings with a graduated ruler or a caliper. Place the ruler on your ring and measure the space between its inner edges through the center of the jewel. This method is the most accurate if you can measure to tenths of a centimeter, to get the size you just need to multiply this value by the number pi (3.14). If you don't have a specific tool, you can also use a triboulet, you can find one on the Amazon site.

Go to a professional

This is still the surest way to know precisely your ring size. The jeweler uses a ring sizer, that is to say a sample of rings of different sizes that you try on in turn to define the one that suits you. He can also use a triboulet, a graduated metal cone on which you just have to put on a ring that already fits you.

TIPS FOR MEASURING YOUR RING SIZE CORRECTLY

To choose the best ring size for you, follow these tips:

  • Take your measurements at the end of the day, when your fingers are potentially swollen
  • Measure the correct finger. If you choose a wedding band, it is the left ring finger that you will need to measure. Namely that, often, from one hand to the other, the dimensions of the fingers are not the same.
  • Consider your joins. Generally, measure your finger where it is thickest. The goal: choose a ring that passes your joints.
  • If you hesitate between two sizes, choose the larger one.
